The number of refugees in Germany has reached its highest level since the 1950s
According to Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, there are currently almost 3.5 million refugees in Germany, including over a million Ukrainians. This figure is the highest since the 1950s.
According to the German government, the number of refugees in the country has increased by 60,000 people since the end of 2023.
As stated by the Head of the German Ministry of Interior, Nancy Faeser, the country's resources for receiving migrants are already at the limit of their capacity. In a letter to the European Commission, she expressed concern about the situation with migrants in Germany, claiming that the resources of the federal center and the states are practically exhausted.
Additionally, the Time taken to review asylum cases in Germany's administrative courts is increasing and now stands at around 19 months, despite promises from the ruling coalition to speed up the process.
