«This is our beach». Residents of a popular resort in Europe surrounded tourists during protests.

Thousands of people protested at the resorts of the Canary Islands against excessive tourism, which displaces the local population. Protesters demand a change in the tourism model on the islands due to the depletion of natural resources and harm to the environment.
We need a change in the tourism model so that it leaves wealth here, so that it values what this land has because it is wonderful
According to the government, at least 8 thousand people participated in the protests. From January to September, the islands were visited by 9.9 million tourists, which is 10.3% more than the same period in 2023. Last year, the population of the islands was 2.2 million people.
In April, local residents of the Canary Islands demanded to send all tourists home due to their fatigue. Also, Prague has now banned night visits to pubs organized by tourist agencies, focusing on "more cultured" tourists.
A popular resort in Italy will also become paid for tourists.
