DTEK Warned: A Hidden Danger That Homeowners Ignore.

The company 'DTEK Kyiv Regional Electric Networks' urges private homeowners to timely trim tree branches that are above power lines in order to prevent power supply interruptions and ensure the safety of residents. The presence of branches that can damage the power wires during worsening weather conditions or strong winds may result in power outages in the street or even in the entire locality. It is important to remember that this is not only an issue of comfort but also a fire risk.
It is recommended to trim branches that are no more than two meters away from power lines. If the branches are located less than half a meter from the power line, it is necessary to disconnect the electric line before safely trimming. In such cases, it is advisable to contact the local authorities to apply for a temporary power outage.
When trimming trees near power lines, safety rules must be followed. Experts warn of the risk of electric shock and emphasize that work should only be carried out in dry and windless weather, as even a wet tree can make it a conductor of electricity. It is recommended to use protective equipment, such as dry leather gloves and safety goggles, and also to have a reliable support, like a ladder. The use of gasoline tools from a ladder is not recommended, and it is necessary to avoid bringing metal objects closer than one meter to the wires.
Earlier, clarifications were also provided regarding the rules for trimming fruit trees in gardens.
