Quotas for Importing Agricultural Products from Ukraine to the EU Restored

Warsaw expressed satisfaction regarding the restoration of quotas for importing agricultural products from Ukraine to the European Union starting June 6, 2025. Negotiations are currently underway between the EU and Ukraine regarding the conclusion of a new trade agreement, but the outcome will depend on the situation at the front.

'Now we are returning to the trade exchange provided by the Association Agreement. These volumes are very favorable for us, as the quotas (on imported agricultural products from Ukraine - ed.) are quite low,' said Poland's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czeslaw Siekierski.

According to him, trade between the EU and Ukraine must maintain a balance, and Ukraine must start producing its agricultural products according to European standards. This will help maintain high product quality and protect the interests of Polish farmers and consumers.

'If they do not use all the banned substances in the EU, which they are currently using, then production costs will also rise,' noted Siekierski.

The minister also reported that the European Commission is negotiating a new trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine. However, he immediately emphasized that the results of these negotiations will depend on the situation at the front and the development of the political situation in the region.

Analyzing the information, it is worth noting that restoring quotas for importing agricultural products from Ukraine to the EU is an important step in developing trade relations between the countries. This will contribute to the development of both economies and strengthen cooperation in the agricultural sector.
