France and Norway signed a strategic agreement on defense cooperation.

France and Norway have signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense, announced the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.
'France is an important ally. We want to expand and enhance cooperation with France in the field of defense and security policy,' said Minister of Defense Bjorn Arild Gram at a press conference with French Minister of Defense Sebastien Lecornu.
Minister Gram emphasized that France is Norway's most active ally, engaged in maritime operations, exercises, and training in the region.
'This country also plays a crucial role in defending Ukraine and strengthening NATO's defense capabilities. We have many common interests, and we have a mutual interest in further developing our cooperation,' added Minister Gram.
The agreement signed by the ministers is an important step in strengthening defense cooperation between Norway and France. The treaty underscores their shared understanding of global security threats and the necessity of presence in the north. It also opens up opportunities for broader cooperation in training and exercises in Norway.
France and Norway also plan to enhance cooperation in countering hybrid threats, particularly in the area of critical infrastructure protection, such as underwater cables and energy supply lines.
'I believe that this visit and the agreement to enhance cooperation mark the beginning of even closer ties with France, particularly in the areas of maritime observation in the north and joint training activities,' noted Gram.
