Gazprom loses billions: Makohon reveals the actual consequences of the end of transit.

Deterioration of the situation in the Russian gas sector due to the cessation of transit through Ukraine
According to Serhiy Makohon, the former head of the 'Operator of the GTS of Ukraine', the end of Russian gas transit through Ukraine starting January 1, 2025, has serious consequences for the Russian gas sector. The company 'Gazprom' has lost the ability to export 110 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe. The company's gas production has decreased by 160 billion cubic meters, affecting losses and production cuts.
'This is stupid Russian propaganda. The pipeline to China leads from a separate field, not from the one that supplied gas to Europe. Gas that was produced for Europe cannot be redirected to this pipeline. To do that, 'Power of Siberia-2' would need to be built, which would take 10 years and about 20 billion dollars that Russia currently does not have.'
Makohon refutes claims about the successful restructuring of the Russian gas market towards Asia and points out that gas intended for Europe cannot be redirected to the pipeline to China. He also emphasizes that sanctions have significantly harmed the Russian gas sector, leading to losses for 'Gazprom' and a decline in stock prices.
Planned measures foresee that gas prices for the population in Russia will increase starting July 1, 2025, resulting in a price hike of 37% already from the Time the war began.
