On Wednesday, July 9, government agencies together with law enforcement are conducting a large-scale special operation in Ukraine to uncover criminal schemes at customs. One official from the State Customs Service has already been detained as part of this operation in Kyiv and in three other regions.
This was reported by the Attorney General on Facebook.
One of the most notorious episodes was the exposure of a scheme for producing counterfeit OSCE credentials. The customs officer received a bribe of $6800 for organizing this scheme for one credential. As a result of the operation, several other criminal schemes at customs in various regions of the country were uncovered.
Investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances, and investigations are ongoing regarding possible crimes at customs in the Chernivtsi region, Odesa region, and Volyn customs.
A comprehensive special operation at Ukrainian customs, within which several criminal schemes have already been uncovered, encompasses various regions of the country, and its goal is to punish individuals who violate the law and abuse their official position.Read also
