Russian and Belarusian Athletes at International Competitions

Russian and Belarusian athletes are increasingly competing in international tournaments under a neutral status. They were driven to this by the restrictions imposed by Olympic committees at the beginning of the conflict. But now they have changed their minds.

The President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Vadim Hutsait, stated that the number of athletes competing under a neutral status is growing. He emphasized that this is already a victory, as at the beginning only 15 Russians and 16 Belarusians competed under a neutral flag at the Olympic Games.

Russian and Belarusian athletes decided to stop competing under their national flags and take a 'neutral' status. The President of the NOC of Ukraine noted that in some sports, Russians and Belarusians were not allowed to participate in the Olympic Games at all, but in other disciplines this was permitted under certain conditions.

Attitude of Ukrainian Athletes Towards the Aggressor Country

Ukrainian athletes do not interact with Russians at international competitions, avoid joint photo sessions, and express solidarity with Ukraine. Their position is reflected in active actions and refusal to have close contacts with athletes from the aggressor country.

Vadim Hutsait explained that the Russians' statements about not recognizing Ukrainian athletes are a provocative action. He emphasized that the goal of Ukrainian athletes is to represent their country with dignity and achieve victories despite any difficulties.

Ukrainian athletes show loyalty to their country and demonstrate this at international competitions, adhering to the position of non-recognition of aggression and supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity.
