Three years without a real winter: how the climate has changed in Kyiv.

Over the past three years, there has been no climatic winter in Kyiv, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported.
Climate change has led to a rare phenomenon - winter, instead of frosts and snowstorms, resembles late autumn or early spring, the ministry notes.
The increase in average air temperature has occurred due to global warming, which has made persistent frosts a rarity. According to the Central Geophysical Observatory, the climatic winter, characterized by a stable decrease in the average daily temperature below 0°C, has not occurred in Kyiv during 2022, 2023, and 2024.
'The average air temperature during the winter period has been above 0°C,' the agency noted.
The stability of the snow cover in the capital is a rarity and is short-lived. This negatively affects the yield of agricultural crops and also increases the risk of spring floods, as winter temperatures are warm.
Temperature expectations for the winter of 2025 have also been revealed.
