Riot in the penal colony in the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan
Today, September 21, in the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan, prisoners of colony No. 55 rioted and set fire during a scheduled search. Orda reports this.
The publication writes that employees of the criminal-executive system department arranged a drug check. As a result, several people were placed in solitary confinement.
«This caused dissatisfaction among the convicts, which resulted in mass disobedience (possibly the inspectors took strict measures)», – sources told the publication.
It is noted that about 400 prisoners participated in the riot, who set fire to an electrical transformer. In total, more than 700 people serve their sentences in the colony.
Subsequently, the press service of the Main Executive System Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan confirmed this information. The department noted that the situation was stabilized. Two servicemen sustained minor injuries and received medical assistance.
