Ukrainian diaspora raises alarm: Crimea in Italian textbooks belongs to Russia.

An analysis of over 60 Italian geography textbooks for 7th grade, published between 2010 and 2024, shows a serious distortion of information about Ukraine. This was reported by Olena Kim, coordinator of the Stop Propaganda Russia initiative, as part of the project 'Bridges of Ukraine.'
We analyzed more than 60 books - these are geography textbooks for 7th grade from 2010 to 2024. None of them mention that Crimea was annexed. Some textbooks from 2022 claim that Crimea is Russian territory,' - said Olena Kim.
False information about the situation in Donbas has also been discovered in some textbooks. According to them, there is an internal war in Donbas between Ukrainians (Russian-speaking) and Ukrainian-speaking people,' - added Olena Kim.
The problem also exists in Poland, where there is no Ukrainian component in school education. This poses a threat to the loss of national identity among Ukrainian children living in Poland. This was stated by Natalya Panchenko, head of the 'EuroMaidan-Warsaw' organization and the Stand with Ukraine fund.
In Poland, there is still no Ukrainian component in schools. Many Ukrainian children do not learn to write, read in Ukrainian and do not study the history and geography of Ukraine,' - noted Natalya Panchenko.
Serhiy Kvit, president of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, emphasized that the active involvement of NGOs, parents, and representatives of the diaspora is essential to maintain contact with Ukrainian students studying abroad. A significant role is also assigned to the new Ministry of Integration in working with Ukrainian children.
