Ukrainian basketball player recognized as the best player of the Latvian-Estonian league.


Ukrainian basketball player Issuf Sanon received the award for the most valuable player of the Latvian-Estonian basketball league for the 2024/25 season. This was reported by the Basketball Federation of Ukraine.
Throughout this season, Sanon achieved an average of 14.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 steals in 25 minutes per match.
His team won the championship with a regular match record of 25-3 and successfully passed two playoff rounds, defeating Ventspils (2-1) and Ogre (2-0) respectively. In the final, they will play against Rīga Zeltini.
This is already the second award for the Ukrainian player this season. Earlier, he received the MVP title of the Latvia Cup final.
Throughout his career, Sanon has played for Ukrainian teams 'Dnipro' and 'Prometey', as well as Slovenia's 'Olympia' and Lithuania's 'Šiauliai'.
It is also known that Ukrainian footballer Artem Dovbik was named the best player of the month in Serie A. In four matches, he scored three goals, thus being recognized as the best in March. Dovbik won the voting on the EA Sports website and received a unique card in FIFA.
Other candidates for this award included 'Udinese' player Umar Sadiq, 'Fiorentina's' Nicolo Fagioli, 'Inter's' Nicolo Barella, 'Como's' Luka De La Torre, and 'Bologna's' Riccardo Orsolini.
This is Dovbik's first Time being nominated for the best player of the month and his first win in the voting.
Recently, 'Roma' coach Claudio Ranieri expressed the opinion that Dovbik should try himself in Greco-Roman wrestling. In response, Olympic wrestling champion and member of the Ukrainian parliament Jean Belenyuk suggested preparing Dovbik for the Italian Greco-Roman wrestling championship.
This season, Dovbik has scored 16 goals and made 4 assists while playing for 'Roma'.
