Usyk and Dubois prepare for a rematch

The president of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Gustavo Olivieri, confirmed receipt of a request for a rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois. The request came from the world champions of the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO versions. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referencing Sky Sports.

We have received a request asking us to consider the possibility of an unification fight between Usyk and Dubois. We will publicly announce our decision on this matter and clarify the status of Joseph Parker,' said Olivieri.

In December last year, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury and successfully defended his titles as absolute world champion in the heavyweight division. The fight lasted 12 rounds and ended with Usyk winning by unanimous decision - 116:112. Thus, the Ukrainian reaffirmed his status as the absolute world champion, defending the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO titles.

Usyk dedicated his victory to his mother, Nadiya Petrovna, who has been worried about him for many years. He also sent greetings to all mothers of Ukraine.

This is already Oleksandr's seventh fight in the heavyweight division and the fourth successful defense of his world champion title.

Fury again criticized the judges who awarded the victory to the Ukrainian by unanimous decision.

Dubois planned to defend his title against former world champion Joseph Parker on February 22 in Saudi Arabia, but was unable to participate in the tournament due to illness. He was replaced by Martin Bakole.
