Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack and named the shooter as Samir Muhammad Ahmad Hussein from its military division 'Al-Qassam'.
It was initially believed that the terrorist acted in a group or received assistance from accomplices who provided him with weapons and a vehicle. However, after surveying the area, it was established that there was no second assailant.
According to the first investigation by the IDF, Hussein left the Nablus area and stopped on a side road from where he began shooting with firearms at the bus.
