From fines to license revocation: how penalties for repeat offenders will change.

The Ukrainian government proposes to strengthen penalties for drivers who consistently violate traffic rules. According to the new draft law, it is planned to increase fines for repeat violations and the possibility of revoking driving licenses for one year.
This will apply to violations related to passing pedestrian crossings, failing to yield to pedestrians, running red lights or the signals of a traffic controller, as well as violations of overtaking rules, intersections, and oncoming traffic.
This initiative is the first step towards implementing a points penalty system for traffic violations, similar to the one used in Europe. It has been developed with the Polish experience in mind, where such a system has been in operation for over 15 years.
Also, let us remind you that cameras recorded a record number of traffic violations - the main violations for which drivers are most often fined.
