Payments to military personnel: Ukraine has changed a key point for receiving money

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved changes to the provision of monetary assistance to military personnel who participated in military conflicts and their family members. The Ministry of Defense proposed important changes regarding the determination of the date of the right to assistance.

According to the new rules, if a serviceman died within a year after being discharged from military service due to injuries or illnesses related to the performance of duties, the date of the right to assistance is now considered to be the date of the registration record of his death.

The regulation addresses issues regarding unidentified persons. If the identity of the deceased serviceman was not initially identified, and then it was possible to do so, the right to assistance is calculated from the date of the amendment to the registration record. In the case of missing persons and later registration of death, the right to assistance arises from the date of the corresponding record in the certificate.

Procedure for assistance payments during martial law

The regulation also establishes the procedure for assistance payments during martial law, allowing the Ministry of Defense and other authorities to independently set the conditions for payments in the event of the death of military personnel while performing duties. The decision is made taking into account the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy.

The government has simplified the procedure for providing assistance to participants in military conflicts and their family members, ensuring a unified approach and regulating important issues related to this process.

After approving changes to the provision of monetary assistance to military personnel, the efficiency and transparency of this process are expected to improve, and participants in military conflicts and their families will receive the necessary support from the state in difficult times. Regulating these military aid issues is an important step towards improving the social security of military personnel and their families.
