For the fourth time this year: prices for a popular vegetable in Ukraine have soared.


Carrot prices in Ukraine have skyrocketed nearly fourfold over the past year, analysts at EastFruit reported.
In the past week, carrot prices in Ukraine increased by 10% and currently range from 27 to 34 UAH/kg.
The price increase is driven by high demand for carrots and a shortage of quality vegetables in the market.
'The supply of quality root vegetables in the market is somewhat limited as several farms prefer to hold off on sales in anticipation of further price increases,' EastFruit explained.
Carrot prices are 3.6 times higher than last year's figures; however, experts believe this may be a temporary phenomenon.
Analysts believe that if prices continue to rise, farmers will start selling their carrot stocks, which will lead to an increase in supply and may reduce vegetable prices.
High prices are also observed in Ukraine's potato, carrot, and garlic markets.
