The zoo in Sumy has taken in an ostrich that the Armed Forces of Ukraine brought from Kharkiv (photo).

A rescued Australian emu lives in the Sumy contact zoo 'Babushyne Podvirya'. He was saved by Ukrainian servicemen who noticed that a pair of hand-raised ostriches were coming to their trenches and were not afraid of people. However, one of the birds stepped on a mine, so it had to be evacuated. Usually, the emu lives in an outdoor enclosure, but due to the frost, he was moved indoors. The female emu eats grains, grass, zucchini, cucumbers, and apples. Recently, she laid two green eggs. The bird's name is Lucky. The zoo plans to obtain a mate for Lucky as autumn approaches.
It was previously reported that in Odesa, a leopard injured a zoo employee while he was in the cage. The animal had to be neutralized, and the injured man was hospitalized with numerous wounds to the head, neck, and limbs.
