According to the World Food Programme (WFP), the delivery to Syria will provide food for over 59 thousand Syrians for six months.
'The Grain from Ukraine initiative is an example of how a country, which itself suffers from Russian aggression, actively combats global food security challenges and remains a reliable partner in the fight against hunger in the most vulnerable regions of the world,' noted Vitaliy Koval.
The total funding for this year's supplies amounted to 331 million US dollars. The financing of the program is organized in rounds. The current, third round, has raised 35.5 million dollars in confirmed funding from 29 donor countries.
