Drivers in Ukraine have started to be fined for using wheels on vehicles that do not meet the dimensions and loads specified for a particular car. This is reported by 'Khvylia' referencing 'Avtotema'. Many drivers want to make their cars more attractive by installing larger rims. However, such modifications can lead to problems with vehicle handling and corresponding penalties from the authorities.
Violating this rule will result in a fine ranging from 340 to 680 hryvnias. In case of repeated violations, temporary seizure of the vehicle or revocation of driving rights for six months may occur. In addition to legal consequences, using incorrect wheels can also lead to technical problems. Installing large rims with low-profile tires negatively affects vehicle properties, increasing the load on the suspension, braking, and steering systems, as well as increasing fuel consumption. Experts recommend that drivers adhere to manufacturer recommendations regarding the selection of rims and tires for their vehicles rather than focusing solely on appearance. Engineers select wheel sizes considering optimal dynamics, stability, loads, and overall vehicle safety. It was previously reported that drivers would be able to replace the vehicle’s technical passport online.
